General Information

Devoted to experimental cinema and artists' films, the Light Cone/AFEA Resource Center is open to students, scholars, teachers, artists and curators who are researching or helping to promote this field of artistic creativity.

The center's goal is to encourage cultural action and critical reaction in the realm that Light Cone has so staunchly defended for the past twenty years, namely avant-garde cinema.

The Resource Center offers a unique collection of documents and films on both classic and contemporary experimental film practice. Since 1999 the center has also housed the collection of the Archives du Film Expérimental d'Avignon (AFEA)

The Light Cone/AFEA Resource Center offers:

A collection of over 1,000 experimental and artists' films, available for viewing. These include historical films, post-war movements, and current work.
A set of books,periodicals, and visual and sound material on avant-garde and experimental cinema, including many rare or out-of-print items such as English -language publications, exhibition catalogues, magazines from the '30s, '50s, and '70s, ...
Files on individual artists and institutions in the realm of experimental cinema and artists' films.
A photo library open to critics and programmers.
Information on screenings, festivals and, more generally, on the current state of experimental cinema and artists' films.

CONDITIONS OF ACCESS

Open by appointment	Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am to 6pm. Films and documents must be consulted on Light Cone's premises, subject to the availability of places.Films and documents may not be borrowed.

Annual subscription rates	For artists, students, scholars, teachers, individuals: 23€ For associations, museums, festivals, film library, media, cinemas, foundations, art centers, art galleries: 50€ (subscription valid for three users) Preferential access is offered to affiliated scholars (further information on request)
